Another Unihump Heart Shaped Poem

The unihump heart is perfect
in both its utility and clean design.
It symbolizes love as a singular unit.
That’s how it always should be: You and me
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~together~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hallmark can’t buy it, so you know it’s not cheap.
It’s non-commercial and therefore means more
than the same double-humped heart everyone
buys in droves like mindless lovesick sheep.
Who needs a holiday to stuff rich people’s
$$$$$$$$$$$$wallets$$$$$$$$$$$$
The double-hump heart sold out,
meaning it is totally inearnest.
(Not in earnest. You know.
The opposite of earnest.)
But the best thing about
my unihump heart
is that it can’t
break in
two.
  1. Tahoe says:
    Wow… very heartfelt and I love that last line. C>
    • Eric says:
      Yes! I love the unihump heart! C>
      That is the official symbol for hearts on Brief Conceits. C is greater than less than 3.
      C>
      • Jeremy Hamilton says:
        I thought C> was the symbol for ice cream cone.
        And I like the line about being earnest. Everyone should learn the importance of being earnest. (see what I did there?)
  2. Mary says:
    Having one’s heart obliterated is a rite de passage. It is important. It sets us apart from bananas and orchids and Barbies as a species. Having a one-hump heart does sound a little less messy. I like the shape.
    • Eric says:
      I had never considered that heartbreak separates us from the Barbies. Just one more thing that they do to perpetuate unrealistic self-image!
  3. Dissension says:
    I recently began using the unihump heart. So far, it just confuses people. In time, it’ll catch on.
    Or people will think I’m nuts.
