Edward

Edward considered a moment the possibilities that await him. This could very well mean his death. In fact it most certainly meant his death. There was, however, the slim possibility that this would lead to new worlds of understanding, enlightenment. Sally assured him it was the latter.

Sally wasn’t real. At least Edward was mostly sure that Sally wasn’t real. He wasn’t sure of that either. He was beginning to realize he wasn’t sure of most things.

“Perhaps,” his larynx cracked open painfully, the words passing through severely chapped lips, “Death and enlightenment are the same thing.”

Sally died with Edward.
